This company is garbage. I got scammed by several contractors they are allowing to post fake reviews shame on them taking advantage

Our dryer stopped drying clothes. I used Thumbtack to contact a professional who promptly addressed the issue!

Inbox feature says I have new messages when I don’t. I try to mark all messages as read or archive (not possible) and the icon still says I have unread messages when I don’t. Slow to load and refresh too. Engineering team seems to be working on the bare minimum upkeep. Overall not good experience. What a shame.

Thumbtack is very negligent to their pros, the support team is very rude and uncooperative, most importantly taking advantage of their lead system to make more money.

You will be charged 30$ every time they “match” you with a customer looking for a completely different service.

I own a local cleaning business. Brad from Thumbtack called me after surgery (I was highly medicated) and pressured me into doing this after I kept declining because I wasn’t in the right mindset. He did not listen to my requests about location radius and put it at 150 miles radius (every one that contacted me was not in MY radius). I asked for a refund, they said they would give me it, but then never did. They then started taking small amounts of money from me thinking that I wouldn’t notice. He then blocked me so that I couldn’t call him. I had to cancel my card so they would stop taking money.

I’ve had three contractors flake on me while using this app, and another one took my deposit and then never did the job. If you look on Reddit you’ll see nothing but complaints from contractors about this app so I think all the quality people have abandoned it and there’s nothing but con-men left. Today a guy flaked on me because he couldn’t even get up my driveway with his truck to haul off some appliances. It’s a vast cesspool of incompetence.

I have spent a significant amount of money working with this company, but unfortunately, the results have been extremely disappointing. Out of 10 leads, at least 7 turn out to be completely useless, and only one might have some potential. The people submitting requests don’t understand how much the service might actually cost because the company fails to explain the pricing clearly. As a result, when potential clients find out the real price — for example, $50 instead of the $20 they expected — they simply refuse the service. And this happens all the time. Very often, people don’t even answer the phone, or the number provided is invalid. But the most frustrating part is that the leads I pay for are shared with other professionals. This means the company is making money from at least three different people for the same lead.

From the word go they never stopped working. They are a friendly and solid crew. They had my apartment emptied in under an hour and once at the new house everything was off the truck in about an hour. I will be recommending them to anyone I know who needs to move.

I want to thank Trish for making the balloon decorations for my 60th birthday party special, but not only the balloons she was friendly worked with my budget, and made sure I was happy, I would recommend Trish to do your next event, Thanks again Trish. Frances

The handyman has to pay a lot of money for leads. As an end customer, we end up paying hundreds of dollars for each project indirectly to this app. I had a bad experience when vendors we didn’t select for a project asked us for the money they paid to Thumbtack to get our contact.

Two Sisters Painting -Wilmington NC WORST experience ever with painters. Didn’t prep well, terrible job on woodwork. Could see original wall color through paint in closets. Drips were rarely dealt with. Left hair, carpet fibers, drips on woodwork and just painted over it. Changed color of paint without asking. Left two halls painted a color that can’t be reproduced so I have no way to touch up. Will have to repaint both halls if it needs a touch up. Used a ROLLER on my kitchen cabinets!! Not smooth as promised!. Asked MANY times to correct mistakes and if I was lucky they fixed PART of the issue. Got tired of repeating myself over and over. Just an awful experience with subpar painters.

I just want to let you all know, this is a platform that scams vendors. You will send your request to 3 different pros, they will automatically charge the pros even if the pro declines your request because they are unavailable. I was on here for years as a pro, but they scammed me out of money and I know they don’t care if they scam the client users out of money either. Please, just use Google to find pros in your area and read reviews. Do NOT trust this company.

Tried a few times. Haven’t had good luck because Thumbtack doesn’t seem vet the companies well. Too many responders were inexperienced. Good contractors don’t need Thumbtack

I had never used Thumbtack before so I didn’t know what to expect. The professional who came to my home was so kind, patient, and very knowledgeable. He solved my problem 100%. I would recommend him to anyone.

Piss poor customer service

I have gotten tile work done, appliance repair, dog training, plumbing to name a few through this app. This app is great to connect with great pros for any and everything.

Scam. I paid $350 as a deposit for a home unpacking & organizing service after moving to a new house (service provider is called "She Packs"). They came the 1st day (arrived an hour & a half late) for unpacking and did about 30% of the job. They said they were going to come back the following day to finish the job. They requested that I pay the rest in order for them to come back to complete the job. So I paid the second $350 payment (totaling $700! - that's 2 paychecks so 80 hours of work for me) and they never came back. I felt violated & swindled. It was a horrible experience. I reached out to Thumbtack support. After emailing back & forth, their final email was: "Thank you for your patience while we continued to review this matter. We know these situations can be difficult, especially when the project revolves around home organization when you have a busy personal schedule. Since we were unable to mediate a resolution between you and the service provider, we can provide you with their public information so that you can pursue resolution outside of Thumbtack. Best, Cody Thumbtack Trust and Safety Team" They didn't help me get any bit of refund at all. Terrible.

They don’t have a customer service when things go wrong.

I have used thumbtack 4 times now to hire professionals. 3 out of 4 times, it’s been very unprofessional. The contractors on the platform do bait and switch with their fees, do not show up or leave the job site…dragging the schedule, and if you are not there to inspect, will do a shoddy job. Dealing with a concrete replacement job right now, and its causing nothing but grief for me. Good luck in figuring out the right contractor. I thought i vet it correctly, now that i am looking, all reviews were posted in the same timeframe and are fake.

I love using Thumbtack. I’ve been using this site for about 7 years and I never had any problems with any of the professionals. A few I continue to use. I’ve booked moving professionals, to home decorating . Whatever you need you’ll find a great professional on Thumbtack.

Thumbtack really is helpful for both the buyer and seller of services which is why it works so well.

Service providers on the platform will make you pay in advance and then cancel last minute. Then they will pretend to refund but won’t. You then have to dispute the charge with your credit card company because there is no (easy or not) way to escalate the matter to Thumbtack

Stop forcing an app download down my throat. I click on an email and it won’t even let me open in a browser.

Fast, professional, efficient, quality work for a fair price. I would highly recommend for any project.

I have managed to get a very good electrician through thumbtrack. I have also managed to hire a very bad handyman through thumbtrack. As much as I have learnt, they charge the contractors for leads and for each lead and if we write a review, we are not allowed to edit or remove the review, in effect, they are profiting from users providing content or responding to messages. It does not compare to Google reviews or Yelp or Google search and relying on traditional service providers who care about customer satisfaction. As a user, now I think multiple times about hiring anyone who responds to my proposal on thumbtack, and bad for them as they are charged for each lead.

Roman did a great job along with his brother in putting together some outdoor furniture and a glass sofa table. Would definitely recommend him.

Thumbtack is the worst company I used as a pro. They charge a lot of money for nothing. Also they deactivated my pro account without any explanation or conversation.

Confusing to me… OR it confuses the contractors who use it. An add on from Nextdoor… 😔 This app needs some user and customer UI work so everyone can see what’s going on.

I don’t know if this is me or the app but I need a trim work done on the exterior. You would think the process of listing the job you wanted to do would start with interior or exterior. Because of that I got two interior wood trim people one who wouldn’t come out.

Horror stories like our experience using contractors from this app. BBB does NOT accredit Thumbtack for good reason. Thumbtack does NOT properly vet—if at all, & when you try to complain on the App to customer service, the App goes berserk.

We hired Dima to install curtain rods over our windows. He was very experienced, professional, friendly, and did exceptional quality work. We will definitely hire him again for future projects. Thank you, Lisa and Linda

They don't always act honestly, they withdraw money, but they don't give you work, and then they say that everything is right on our part, and the fact that they took a lot of money from me, they don't care, I put one star for their dishonesty
